Exchange students are placed at "PODIL" Lyceum, one of the best secondary schools in Kiev, is proud of its more than half a century history. It occupies an 18th century building located in the ancient historical center of the city. More than 100 experienced teachers work there. The teaching process is organized and supervised by the Faculties: Philology Faculty, Mathematics Faculty, Science Faculty, History Faculty, Arts Faculty, and others.There are about 1300 students (called "lyceists") of 1st - 11th grades. They have classes in the same school building, but different wings.

English is studied as first foreign language through all 11 years of schooling. At the 4th grade students begin learning second foreign language (German or French). Ukrainian students are willing to communicate with international students and learn more about their countries, traditions and lifestyles. YFU exchange students are placed in the 10th or 11th grade. Usually classmates stay together in one class and take subjects together, most of which are required and a few are optional.Exchange students are offered Ukrainian (or Russian) Language Course For Beginners (20 lessons) which is included in program fee.

Other program activities

Lyceum "PODIL" offers a wide choice of extracurricular activity options for its students: chess club, modern ballet dancing, art studio, basketball, drama, and others the participation in which is covered by the program fee. The program fee also includes sightseeing in Kiev, visiting outdoor Pyrohovo Museum of Ancient Ukrainian Architecture and Culture, Kiev Opera House, and a 3-day trip to Western Ukraine by train.Optional trips to other places in Ukraine (the Carpathian Mountains or the Black Sea Coast in the Crimea) can be organized at additional cost.
